Cool cross-train skills for daily life

Whether you're training jumping rope for fitness, or just to work out.

I think its great that you are focusing on strength and conditioning for this upcoming summer and fall. The more you can push yourself at the gym, in the gym and outside in the real world the better your chances of staying safe, healthy and strong in the winter/spring season.

If you haven't had the strength training for a few years, you are going to have to get in the best shape you can to start. I would try to work out twice a week for 5 days in a row and then once or twice a week for the rest of the week. I would also focus on strength and form the entire week. I have been focusing on strength for about 2 months now.

The first few weeks I had a hard time getting motivated and would just go to the gym and do 20 minutes of sit ups and not be very consistent. As time went on I got more focused and made an effort to train jump rope 5 days a week after work and throughout the week I added in some additional time on my weekend day off.

This year we had many new people in this building and they would always take me on the ropes course with them first thing in the morning and have me walk around the campus for an hour every week. Last weekend I did 2 sessions with them and after the third session I knew I could hold my own, and I am now getting up to 3 sessions on Sunday mornings. This summer I've added a new challenge to my jump rope workouts. My goal is to hit 3 minutes of double unders and I am going to challenge myself to add a rep or two each day.
